Babyshower

Country of Origin

In the unlikeliest of places—a bathroom stall during a baby shower—two women, Camila and Olivia, strike up a raw and surprisingly profound conversation. What begins with a simple request for toilet paper evolves into an intimate exchange about motherhood, identity, and the quiet pressure of societal expectations. As Olivia spirals between anxiety, honesty, and self-doubt, Camila offers a mix of blunt wisdom and reluctant empathy. Through humor, vapes, and stolen catering, the two explore what it means to be a woman in a world that still defines femininity by motherhood.
A tender, funny, and sharply honest short film about connection, choice, and the moments that make us question everything.

Anahí de Cárdenas is a celebrated Peruvian actress with an outstanding career in film, television, and theater. Her versatility and strong on-screen presence have made her one of the most influential Peruvian artists of her generation.

As an actress, she has appeared in a variety of successful films, including “Asu Mare 2,” “No me digas solterona,”
“El Guachiman” “Mancora”, “Dioses” entre otras. She has also worked in well-known Peruvian television series such as “Esta sociedad,” “Mi amor, el wachimán,” and “Al fondo hay sitio.”

Beyond acting, Anahí has written and produced the self help book and then play #FuckCancer based on her breast cancer experience and Te de Tias, a musical comedy that has been running for 10 years in the Peruvian theater scene. Showcasing her creative talent and unique ability to connect with audiences through storytelling and stagecraft.

In her most recent artistic endeavor, she makes her directorial debut with the short film “BabyShower”, a project she also wrote and produced next to Karla Bacigalupo. The film explores the emotional complexity of womanhood and the often unspoken truths surrounding motherhood, offering a raw and honest female perspective.

With this transition behind the camera, Anahí de Cárdenas continues to establish herself as a powerful voice in Latin American cinema—one that is committed to telling meaningful, authentic, and emotionally resonant stories.

I wrote this film after losing two babies, only to find out I was pregnant for the third time. We shot the short when I was four months pregnant, and I had many fears and doubts regarding my role as a mother. I have been married to my work for most of my life and had come to terms with the idea that I could only have one or the other—work or motherhood—only to later realize, through the process of becoming a mother, that I could have both.

Now, with my newborn in my arms, I can say that I have even more fears than before, but I’ve never felt more fulfilled. It’s amazing to hear and see my train of thought in the short film and to witness how much it has changed now that I am a mother—yet, in many ways, it has also stayed the same.

We are ever-changing beings, and that is what this short means to me: a testament to change, adaptation, and life.

Forgotten Flavors

Our ancestors knew every edible plant, every healing herb—knowledge we’ve almost entirely lost. Forager Pascal Baudar moves through Southern California’s woodlands and desert with ancestral eyes, gathering what most would overlook. He teaches others to awaken senses dulled by modern life—to taste, smell, and touch their way back to an ancient knowing. He forages wild plants for food and fermentation, hand-harvests clay to craft vessels, creating an extraordinary feast that exists nowhere else. This intimate portrait reveals what we gain when we slow down enough to remember who we once were.

After 18 years in marketing at Apple and 25+ years editing films, Kimberly shifted focus into directing, producing, and writing—with a focus on crafting meaningful stories that open eyes, shift perspectives, and inspire connection to the natural world. She is currently developing a TV series with this mission in mind.

My goal with this film is to reconnect people to the planet by tapping into the ancestral wisdom that lives within us all.

The Greens at Palm Scheme

Paul M Bourassa

Screenwriter

earth, black and white, globe-1504059.jpg

Canada

Country of Origin

The Greens of Palm Scheme is a satirical, emotionally grounded dramedy set in a sun-bleached HOA community of Palm Cahonas unraveling from the inside. When a fading golf course becomes ground zero for a turf war between tech-era developers and old-school residents, the community splinters into factions. From HOA boardroom brawls to rogue camo-golf-cart patrols, the show explores themes of power, aging, and identity in a world where governance gets petty — and personal.
With biting humour and surprising heart, the series captures the chaos of modern-day retirement life as it collides with real estate greed, political delusion, and backyard espionage. It’s Veep by way of Del Boca Vista — dry, sharp, and deeply human.

Paul currently serves on both the Alberta Public Health Appeal Board and the Alberta Parole Board. Previously, he had a distinguished career with the Government of Canada, where he worked as a Federal Crown Prosecutor and Justice Counsel.

During his tenure with the Government of Canada, Paul took a leave of absence to serve as a consultant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. In this role, he lived in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, and Botswana, mentoring prosecutors and investigators in combating financial crime and corruption.

In addition to his legal career, Paul was an elected official for seven years with the Conseil Scolaire FrancoSud, a school board dedicated to promoting both Catholic and public Francophone education in Calgary and southern Alberta.

In recognition of his dedication to education and the protection of minority language rights, Paul was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2023.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian Studies and History from the University of Alberta’s Campus Saint-Jean, which included an exchange program at Université Laval. He earned his law degree from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, where he became a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, a distinction he continues to hold.

Paul M. Bourassa is a Barrister & Solicitor by profession and a lifelong creative. “The Greens of Palm Scheme” is his first television pilot—an original one-hour dramedy set in a sun-scorched golf community where HOAs clash with developers, and petty grievances turn political. A debut screenwriter with years of legal and narrative experience, Paul brings a sharply observed eye to systems of power, community dysfunction, and social satire. Above all, Paul remains attentively sharp and useless in his creative endevours.

America's Radical Women: Forgotten Voices of History

E. Philip Brown

A film director

earth, black and white, globe-1504059.jpg

United States

Country of Origin

A compelling documentary that brings to light the extraordinary lives and contributions of radical American women who defied societal norms to champion justice, equality, and social change. Narrated by Janeane Garofalo, the film delves into the stories of activists, labor leaders, and social reformers whose impactful legacies have often been overlooked in mainstream history. Through archival footage, expert interviews, and historical reenactments, the documentary not only honors these trailblazers but also connects their enduring influence to contemporary movements for women’s rights and social justice.

E. Philip Brown is a public historian, author, and educator, . He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and an MA in Public History from American Public University. Prior to teaching, Phil was in the telecommunication industry for over 22 years working for carriers such as AT&T, Qwest, and SBC. He and his wife, Chrisi, have two children and live in Haverhill.

History is often told through the lens of those in power, leaving many of the most courageous and transformative figures in the shadows. America’s Radical Women: Forgotten Voices of History is my attempt to change that—to bring to life the stories of fearless women who risked everything to fight for justice, equality, and progress.

As a public historian and filmmaker, I believe that understanding the past is essential to shaping the future. The women featured in this documentary—activists, labor leaders, and social reformers—were not just ahead of their time; they defined it. They challenged oppressive systems, defied societal norms, and laid the groundwork for the rights and freedoms we often take for granted today.

With narration by Janeane Garofalo, this film weaves together archival footage, expert insights, and dynamic storytelling to honor these trailblazers. But it is not just about history—it’s about the present and the ongoing struggles that demand our attention. Their voices still resonate, their fights are far from over, and their stories must be told.

I hope this documentary not only educates but also inspires viewers to carry forward the radical spirit of these extraordinary women. Let’s remember them, learn from them, and continue their work.

In an Impasse

Navid Ghiasi

A film director

Islamic Republic of Iran

Country of Origin

Sara finds herself in a desperate situation: her mother is hospitalized and needs urgent surgery to survive. With no help in sight, Sara faces a major challenge and must somehow raise the necessary money. In this impasse, she decides to steal from a luxury jewelry store, but…

Navid Ghiasi, born on October 3, 1987, in Tehran, is a director, writer, actor, producer, singer, and songwriter. He studied theater and further honed his filmmaking skills by graduating from Azad Film School, where he studied directing and acting under the mentorship of Masoud Kimiai, one of Iran’s most renowned filmmakers. He is also a graduate of Invers School, specializing in directing and editing.

Navid Ghiasi completed his first short film, “In an Impasse”, in early 2025 as its writer, director, and producer. The film is currently competing in numerous international film festivals, gaining recognition and sparking interest among critics and cinephiles worldwide.

His acting career began with a role in the film “Pelak Haft Koocheh Paeez”, directed by Shahram Shah-Hosseini, followed by his performance in the film “Kamin”.

Beyond cinema, Navid Ghiasi is also an active presence in the music industry. As a songwriter, he has collaborated with many of Iran’s top singers, and as a singer himself, he has released several songs.

With an unwavering passion for art and cinema, Navid Ghiasi continues to push boundaries in filmmaking, striving for innovation and impactful storytelling in both the film and music industries.

As a filmmaker, I believe cinema is not just a medium of storytelling but a powerful tool to explore human emotions, societal dilemmas, and the unspoken struggles of individuals. In an Impasse is a deeply personal project born from my fascination with morally complex characters and the choices they make under pressure.

This film is a reflection of harsh realities—how desperation can drive a person to cross ethical boundaries and how society often leaves its most vulnerable members without options. Through Sara’s journey, I wanted to portray the psychological toll of injustice and the irreversible consequences of a single decision.

Stylistically, I aimed to create a raw, immersive experience where every frame conveys tension, unease, and emotional depth. The minimalist yet intense visual approach, combined with a restrained yet haunting performance by the cast, was key to amplifying the film’s impact.

I hope In an Impasse resonates with audiences, sparks discussions, and lingers in their minds long after the credits roll. To me, the true success of a film lies not in answers but in the questions it leaves behind.

Digital Support Group #75,200B

Linda Pallotta

A screenwriter

earth, black and white, globe-1504059.jpg

United States

Country of Origin

Soon departing for Mars in 2045, Digital Support Group #75,200 B, one of many groups throughout the world, plans its take-off to escape the effects of global warming poisoning the earth-or so they are told. Few decide to remain on earth-with dire consequences. A short, sci-fi screenplay. Visual effects interspersed throughout.

An eclectic playwright with roots as a journalist, Linda strives to create situations thwarting alienation in her audience. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she launched her writing career as a reporter for ‘Newsday’ when she graduated from New York University. Immersing herself in theatre and film for several years, she raised her son singly, rescued four dogs, and taught high school English before receiving her Master of Arts in NYU’s Educational Theatre in Music and Performing Arts Professions.
She wrote over 20 plays and films, many of which she directed from New York to Los Angeles. She was positively reviewed by The Los Angeles Times for her comedy drama, ‘Prime Rib Wedding.’ The Tampa Bay Times wrote a feature article on Ms. Pallotta after she started a theatre workshop locally. She wrote and directed a short film, ‘Envirokids’ in Orlando for the county’s EPA as she taught theatre as an adjunct professor at Valencia College. She later taught at CUNY’s Baruch College in NYC.
Ms. Pallotta recently won 3 awards in the Indie FEST Film Awards May ‘23 & was selected semi-finalist in 8 international film festivals for her short and full length screenplays. She is published in the international journal ‘Literature Today’ as well as ‘Fresh Words.’ During the pandemic, Linda was chosen to be a finalist in the women’s festival of playwrights in New York City’s Crossways Theatre.
Listed on NPX (New Play Exchange), she is a Dramatist Guild member as well as SAG/AFTRA/AEA. Linda volunteers at Red Door Community (formerly Gilda’s Club) for those challenged by cancer, leading an improvisational workshop for both children and adults.

The purpose of my life is to create situations that others can identify with within their own lives, to make my audiences feel less alone. If, through my words, I can make life better for some, to share experiences in order to make others happier, then my goal to thwart alienation will be completed.
Hopefully my words will reverberate and help those who need clarification towards what they’re feeling. Creating a tear, a smile, a retort or a belly laugh makes me know my audience is feeling my words. If my words “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comforted,” I will be an artist, for only then will have embroidered a live tapestry called a screenplay.
